Dear members,

Elections results for Mid-Del Archers are as follows: Jim Eastman, President; David Hosier, Vice President; David Slack, Secretary/Treasurer; and Kevin Slack, Range Captain. Kevin Slack will be contacting members from time to time for help maintaining the 3-D range including monthly 3-D target set-up and tear down.

Approximately 60% of Mid-Del Archers members are in good standing and are welcome to use the club facilities. The remaining 40% are delinquent relative to dues payment. Persons using the club facilities may be asked to show current membership cards. Those who are delinquent will be asked to leave the facility until their membership dues have been brought up to date. Membership applications are available on the Mid-Del Archers website www. mid-delarchers.com. Instructions for completing the form and remitting can also be found on the website. Please contact me, David Slack, at mrarcher@aol.com if you have any questions or comments regarding membership renewal.

Mid-Del Archers hosted the Senior Olympic Archery Games on October 14, 2007. Three Mid-Del archers (Jim Eastman, Jim Roberts, and David Slack) participated in the event and all won medals in their respective age groups. A thank you is in order to those who helped set up the competition range and support the event Especially Lois Slack who gave up her afternoon to open the kitchen and make hot food for the event participants and spectators.

As a result of the continuing warm weather no action has been taken on the clearing of the dot range shooting paths or installation of bow hangers and target backstops. As soon as cooler weather arrives, members will be contacted and a work party will be organized to begin clearing the shooting lanes. If members want to begin clearing activities before the work party gets organized, feel free to clear pathways, just keep in mind that a 5’ to 6’ wide path is needed on the shooting lanes. The wood you cut you may take, so happy cutting. One caution, DONOT, rut up the property getting into and out of the areas being cleared.

Check out the Mid-Del Archers website for the “Shoot for the Loot” current standings.

A carpet butt has been installed on the 50 yard target on the practice range. You no longer have to be concerned about losing arrows as a result of target pass thru on that target. We will be banding the remaining carpet butts on the target range as help becomes available to assist in banding and moving the banded butts onto the target frames.

Some preventative maintenance has been performed on the mower and gator to ensure they continue to start and run. Also a push mower has been donated to allow trimming around the clubhouse and the front ditch bottom. Contact Jim Eastman or David Slack for access to either piece of equipment if you feel like spending some time maintaining the 3-D range or clearing the dot range..

We continue to look for members willing to become trained as archery instructors. I have not received any membership response. Send us your comments, pro or con, related to the start of a youth training archery program. Better yet come to the monthly membership meeting and voice your opinion.

On Sept. 21, Mid-Del Archers hosted a 4-H youth shoot at our facilities. This first time joint effort produced a lot of smiling faces as over a hundred children were able to shoot arrows at Olympic targets on a beautiful fall afternoon. Thanks to everyone from both organizations who made this event such a success. We look forward to many more combined shoots with the 4-H people. The long term effect of this relationship will be more people on our 3-D range and on our membership rolls.
