Fellow Archers,

The next monthly meeting of Mid-Del Archers is scheduled to start at 7:00 PM on May 20, 2007. The meeting place will be the Fox Hunters Clubhouse. The clubhouse will open @ 6:30.

First, I apologize for my recent inconsistency in publishing the mid-Del Archers monthly news letter. I will endeavor to correct this condition in the future.

Many things have happened around the Mid-Del archers Clubhouse since the last news letter. First, the revised order of shooting the 3-D course has been successful. Archers now do not have to stare into the sun when shooting the targets along the ditch bank. However, a new challenge, wind, has presented itself.

Logging has moved to the pines along side the club house. Probably, by the time you read this news letter the logging will be completed. Therefore, more shooting lanes will need to be cut in through more tree lap along the lane that runs past the target shed. Feel free to lend a hand clearing shooting lanes.

Our DOT lanes must now be reconstructed, shooting lanes cleared, bow hangers reinstalled, yardage markers re established, Back Stops built, etc. The range layout will be studied to determine if by moving some targets the use of back stops can be avoided. Member help will be critical to the successful rebuilding of this range. Contact David Slack @ 359-4671 for information on how you can help. Remember it’s your club and as a member it is your responsibility to help maintain the club and its ranges.

Let’s give our newest member, James Eastman, a warm welcome. James joined Mid-Del archers in April and is interested in shooting our 3-D range. Welcome aboard James.

For you “old” and not so old folks looking for a place to tune up for the National Senior Olympics, look no farther. Mid-Del Archers is setting up FITA targets every Thursday evening. Shooting starts around 6:00 PM and continues until it gets difficult to see the target. If you like FITA come on out.

We have established the menu for the ASA State championship competition scheduled for June 9 & 10. A chicken platter (either leg/thigh or breast) will be offered with potato salad, baked beans, and a dinner roll. Iced Tea will be served with the platter but other soft drinks will be available. If you have qualified come out, compete and chow down on a chicken platter after the shoot.

Mid-Del Archers held their 3 annual Youth shoot on April 5. Attendance is increasing as 9 children competed in this year’s competition.

Finally, if you have any suggestions or comments related to Mid-Del Archers, feel free to contact Jim Eastman or David Slack. Leave either person an e-mail; Remember your participation is what makes Mid-Del Archers a club.
