Fellow Archers,

The next monthly meeting of Mid-Del Archers is scheduled to start at 7:00 PM on August 20, 2006. The meeting place will be the Fox Hunters Clubhouse. The clubhouse will open @ 6:30.

Membership renewal is slowing down, so if you have not submitted your membership dues for the 2006/2007 year, please do so. Our membership total currently is 30 paid members and 15 Life members. One or more new membership applications are being reviewed at each regular meeting. Membership applications for James Roberts and William Steffy will be reviewed at our next membership meeting.

Candidates for Mid-Del archers Elected officers and Board of directors are nominated during the September membership meeting. Remember membership has responsibilities such as nominating and selecting the best members to lead the club. Mark your calendar, come out and nominate your candidate(s) during the September membership meeting...

There has been some discussion about what Mid-Del Archers can do to increase participation in the monthly 3-D as well as special shoots. One suggestion, the creation of a money league, has been made. Another suggestion is the development of some novelty shots such as a running deer or lion in a tree. Other suggestions include a raffle for each shoot with the prize being either cash or archery accessories. No decision has been reached, so come out to the meeting, voice your opinion, and lend your support.

The July 3-D shoot hosted a total of 32 archers who shot in 9 different classes. The Delaware Bay Tournament, shot on July 3rd and 4th, saw 17 shooters in 6 classes compete for their top spots in each class. Winners in each class were presented with either a plaque or check. Winnings were dependent on the number of persons shooting in the class. The largest class was Hunter with 8 people.

The club purchased an ECHO power blower. The power blower will allow Mid-Del Archers to clean-up the 3-D Range and target paths. It will also facilitate the making of new target lanes.

Work has begun on the DOT Range. New bow hangers have been installed at both ends of each target. Obstructions have been removed from the range pathways and range markers have been reset, where needed. Help is needed to continue the range refurbishment.

Help is needed for the Senior Olympic shoot on September 17th. No experience is necessary, if you are interested in helping out contact David Slack @ 284-2322. Help make this event special as it is the qualification event for Delaware Residents to the 2007 National Senior Olympic Archery Competition.

Respectfully,

David Slack

Secretary/Treasurer
