Fellow Archers,

The next monthly meeting of Mid-Del Archers is scheduled to start at 7:00 PM on April 23, 2006. The meeting place will be the Fox Hunters Clubhouse. The clubhouse will open @ 6:30.

The April 3-D shoot and ASA Qualifier was a great success. A total of 63 archers shot the 30 targets set for the ASA competition. The course was a little more challenging then a normal 3-D set up due to the ASA competition. 16 archers competed for ASA qualification for the Delaware State Championship in 5 classes. Cash prizes totaling $176.00 were awarded to the first place finishers in each class and one second place finisher in a single class with over 5 registrants.

The saga of the McKenzie Target replacements continues. The Bedded Buck target and mid section and a T-30 Sneak Deer mid section were received during March. Upon opening the shipping containers, it was discovered that the Bedded Buck was not acceptable due to several undesirable conditions including a broken ear and peeling foam skin and the T-30 Sneak Deer mid section turned out to be a rear section. Needless to say these target and parts have been returned. Expected delivery of the replacements is the end of April.

Work on the Practice Range is nearing completion. Target frames for the 20, 30, and 40 yard target butts have been replaced with frames incorporating covers. Target butts for these frames have also been upgraded and a new locally manufactured “Carpet Butt” has been installed at the 20 yard position, Both 20 yard positions now have Carpet Butts. One Excelsior target butt at the 30 yard position has been modified with carpet to eliminate a shoot thru condition. Eventually Carpet Butts will be at all positions on the practice range. Rework of the 50 and 60 yard target frames is in process but not expected to be completed until the end of April.

The practice range needs racking. Member help is needed to make our practice range look and be the best in Delaware. Just bring your rake and rake the leaves towards the woods on the 60 yard side of the range.

Evaluation of the Dot range 14 positions will be completed during April to determine what is required at each position in terms of materials and position maintenance. After the needs are identified, materials will be purchased and work parties will be organized to complete the upgrading of the Dot range. Times and dates for the work parties are being established and will be posted in a future News Letter, possibility as early as May.

A new fuel pump has been purchased for the mower. After it is installed, the mower should start for anyone. Since grass cutting time is rapidly approaching, volunteers to operate the mower are needed. Please notify any of the club officers of your availability so that access to the mower can be arranged.

The lock pin on the trailer broke during the last shoot. A new lock pin is needed. If you can provide a new lock pin let a club officer know so that arrangements can be made to get it installed.

Respectfully Yours
